So You Think You Can Dance makeup artist hired by Sarah Palin
October 28, 2008
The Blogosphere has recently been abuzz about the fact that Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin has paid Amy Strozzi $22,800 for two weeks of hair styling following Palin being selected as the Republican nominee for the Vice Presidency. According to The New York Times’ Maureen Dowd: “the McCain campaign made her traveling makeup artist, Amy Strozzi, the highest-paid individual on the campaign for the first two weeks of October. Ms. Strozzi, who earned an Emmy nomination for her war paint skills on the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance,” made $22,800 for the first half of this month.”
According to the Internet Movie Database, Strozzi was nominated for a Prime time Emmy in the “Outstanding Makeup for a Multi-Camera Series or a Special” category for her work as a makeup supervisor on So You Think You Can Dance season in 2005. She has also worked on the Late Show with Craig Ferguson. It has been reported that GOP Candidate John McCain’s wife Cindy McCain recommended Strozzi.
What does this mean for the So You Think You Can Dance tour? Not much, but anything that has people talking about this wonderful show is good news for us here at SYTYCD tickets.
SYTYCD’s Kherington to star in “Fame” remake
October 14, 2008
So You Think You Can Dance star Kherington Payne has been tapped to star in the upcoming remake of the 1980 film Fame. The original film told the story of aspiring dancers trying to make it through high school at a prestigious dancing high school. With the success of High School Musical, now enjoying its third installment, it seems like now is the perfect time to bring back the film musical that gained international notoriety and spawned a real life musical and a TV series.
Kherington has been chosen to play Alice, one of the dancers trying to survive high school. Kherington is already a huge fan of the show: “Definitely! This movie has had such a huge impact on the dance community. What dancer wouldn’t be a fan?!?” she told the NY Post.
The original Fame won an Oscar and has been hailed as an inspiration for a new generation of dancers. The rest of the Fame cast includes Thomas Dekker, Kristy Flores, Paul Iacono, Paul McGill, Naturi Naughton, Kay Panabaker, Kherington Payne, Collins Pennie, Walter Perez and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle.
The 18-year-old dancer was born in Placentia, California. She is currently starring in the live SYTYCD tour.
